The Isaiah Lee Stone Scholarship Award
Who is Isaiah Lee Stone? Isaiah was the infant son of former YLOK Director, Lee Ann Stone, Leadership Oklahoma Class XXVII, and C. Renzi Stone Leadership Oklahoma Class XVIII and Lifetime Member. Lee Ann traveled around the state with Class IV in the summer of 2009 at 39 weeks pregnant with Isaiah. The program concluded on a Friday and Lee Ann gave birth to Isaiah the following Monday morning on June 16th, 2009. Isaiah was diagnosed with epilepsy later that year and after exhaustive medical treatments, passed away May 17, 2010, just short of his first birthday. Isaiah taught the Stones and anyone else who came in contact with him how to smile, laugh and live everyday to its fullest.
Each year, the class is encouraged to nominate individuals who best exemplify the type of leader that Oklahoma needs for its future. This is not intended to be the person who wants to run for political office or the most popular among the class. The Isaiah Lee Stone YLOK Scholar is someone who has made a lasting on each classmate. They are someone who asks thoughtful questions of speakers, who invests time in getting to know everyone and who professes a love for the state of Oklahoma. Classmates know for certain that this person is going to do great things in their future. Each recipient knows with clear intention they will make their home in the great state of Oklahoma after college.
