Chair's Letter

Dear LOK Members and Supporters,
I’m honored to be serving as Chair of the Leadership Oklahoma Board of Directors for 2009-2010 and look forward to a year which promises to be as exciting and productive as ever. A full slate of membership activities will again be offered in FY 2009-2010, all designed to continue the education and inspiration for “Oklahoma Leaders Making Oklahoma the Leader.” Make plans to attend these LOK events whenever possible. They are opportunities not only for continued education, but also for continued expansion of the Leadership Oklahoma network.
One of the highlights of the LOK year is the annual Dinner and Conference. This year’s conference theme is “Health: Your Responsibility, Oklahoma’s Liability.” Because the health of our state’s economy is increasingly tied to the health of our state’s citizens, this is a timely and relevant topic for consideration by all LOK members and supporters. Other membership events scheduled include the Holiday Party at the Harweldon Mansion in Tulsa and the Excellence in Leadership Awards and Gala at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in Oklahoma City.
I believe Leadership Oklahoma’s greatest accomplishment is providing over 1100 Oklahomans in positions of leadership with increased awareness, commitment, and a call to action on behalf of our state. As a direct result of their individual Leadership Oklahoma experiences, our graduates do make a positive difference every day. And, with the recent addition of Class XXII and the 2010 graduation of Class XXIII, I am reminded that just as our membership increases each year, so does our impact on Oklahoma!
Regardless of how long it has been since your initial LOK experience, I urge you to stay active and engaged with Leadership Oklahoma. It is our continued involvement and membership which helps ensure the future of our organization and ultimately, our state.
Sincerely,
 Bill Burgess, Jr.
