Chair's Letter

Good leaders are made, not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never-ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience (Jago, 1982).

19 Days & Changed Forever

In just 19 days (over nine months), the experiences, friendships, learning, and connections forged during my Leadership Oklahoma Class XXI changed me forever.

That’s why this program is so significant, because leadership is about creating a way for people to make “extraordinary happen”; and in our case, to “making Oklahoma even better”.

I’m extremely honored and thrilled to be serving as Board Chair for this exciting 25th year! Wow…25 years of identifying and bringing together the state’s finest movers and shakers (seems like mostly Type A, J), with diverse thinking, backgrounds, and geography. But no matter whether you were in the founding class, or last year’s, when you identify yourself as a fellow alum, you can literally “hear the smile” on the other end of the phone. Our common bond of wanting to improve our leadership abilities, our relevance, and resulting impact on our state is admirable.

All alumni, let’s rally around our 25th Anniversary! Enthusiastically welcome our newest class. Join in the exciting “25 Community” activities, the annual meeting, the Excellence in Leadership Gala and topical alumni programs. Rekindle your passion for this program, and together let’s make Oklahoma the state in which we’ve all dreamed.
